      Description:
As a followup on a Regression bug in 8.0.x this old technote for 6.5.5 was pulled back into life. A simular problem with default printers was found and the solution simular.

For your environment, scripts or other mechanisms run that change your default printer assignment during logon. After you upgrade your Lotus Notes® client to version 6.5.5, you find that when you print a document, the print job does not appear in the printer queue. Instead, you might notice a spool file in the Notes program directory with a file name that includes the printer name. When you used Notes 6.5.3, the print job behaved as expected.

The issue occurs only if the printer assignment changes and the default printer is not fully initialized. If a script or other mechanism changes the printer assignment and, at the same time, Notes reads the default printer indirectly using a WIN.INI mapping from the registry, the data in the registry key is incorrect or corrupt; therefore, Notes cannot process the print job. The relevant key is Hkey_Local_Machine\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows\Device.

SPR SHEZ6T7JP5 - "Print job does not appear in printer queue anymore after upgrading to Notes Client 8.02" gibt es Client Hotfixe (802FP1SHF33 and 85SHF126 and 802HF239 )

From 8.5.1 onwards there will be a Notes.ini Variable to help this problem to be solved.

Setting Preserve_Printer_Setting= 1 will then solve this problem.
