      Description:
Have you ever noticed then we you go to a Domino based website and sign up for an account you typically have to wait a few minutes for your account to become active? Yes I know there have been ways to work around this from a development and administrative perspective, the most common being the brute force and expensive method of sending a "SHOW NLACHE RESET" command to your Domino server console. In fact we do this on IdeaJam and also on OpenNTF.

Well for those of you running Domino 7.0.3 and Domino 8.0 there is now a Notes.ini parameter that you can add that will eliminate the need for the SHOW NLCACHE RESET. While this might not seem to present itself as a problem, organizations with large directories would see a significant performance hit on their boxes each and every time the cache was reset and reloaded with current information. This tip was passed on to me by good friend Thomas Gumz. Here is the SPR:

SPR# JRON6ZXP5J - This fix is an enhancement to the NAMELookup cache to invalidate individual entries rather than entire groups. Enhancement is not enabled by default and will only be enabled if the NAMELookup cache version has been increased to 4 by setting the Notes/Domino ini variable ( NLCACHE_VERSION=4 ). The current NAMELookup cache is version 2, which is the default for Domino 7x.
