        Description:
This parameter indicate that the server is partitioned and/or clustered. Refer to the readme.txt for details on issues with installs to partitioned servers.

When a customer attempts to install a third-party application, on a server that is also running Domino, they are prompted to select the partition on which the application should be installed. This prompt displays even if Domino was installed as a single-server and not a partitioned install.

To ensure that the necessary files are installed to the correct location, third-party applications may scan the NOTES.INI file during install. It has been found, however, that when a third-party application detects the NOTES.INI parameter "PartitionNumber=1", it may assume that Domino is partitioned and thus prompts the customer to choose the correct partition for the install.

This is not a Domino issue. Customers that experience this issue should contact the maker of the third-party application.

A temporary workaround is to remove the parameter from the NOTES.INI file before installing the third-party application; however, removing the parameter for extended periods of time is not recommended as doing so could possibly lead to performance issues.

The NOTES.INI parameter "PartitionNumber" was introduced in Domino 6.x and is referenced by several areas of Domino code including shared memory. This parameter is also used for SNMP as well as memory allocation for some third-party applications.
