      Category:

        IMAP, Mail

      Default:

None, although without this setting, Domino removes folder references during conversion.

      UI equivalent:

        None

      Description:
Specifies whether the mail conversion utility (CONVERT) preserves folder references when updating mail files for use with the Domino 6 IMAP service.

      Valid Values are:

0 (or variable not set) - The conversion process disables folder references.

1 - The conversion process preserves folder references

This setting will prevent the server from disabling folder references when converting mail files

In earlier releases of Domino, the IMAP service used folder references in the mail template to retrieve IMAP folder and message data. Because the Domino 6 IMAP service does not use folder references, and preserving folder references retards IMAP performance, by default, when you run the mail conversion utility (CONVERT) to prepare mail files for IMAP use, it removes folder references from the converted mail files.

Set this variable only in environments where Domino applications other than the IMAP service use folder references in mail files to track information. When this variable is set, folder references are preserved during all mail file conversions, whether performed manually from the server console, or automatically as the result of an IMAP user logging in to the IMAP service for the first time. Following conversion, the IMAP folder and message data maintained by folder references is initially synchronized with the Domino 6 IMAP information.

However, as the Router delivers new messages to the mail file, folder references are not updated.
