        Description:
Stops the router filling the database UNK table on mail.box during compact.

        Problem:

On a very busy Notes 4.1x or Domino 4.5 Hub mail server, the following error message displays:
"Unable to Compact MAIL.BOX: Too Many Unique Fields"
You are forced to down the server and compact the MAIL.BOX file every few days.

        Solution:

This issue has been reported to Lotus Quality Engineering and has been addressed in Domino 4.5.2.

MAIL.BOX never completes compacting because other servers continually interrupt the compact process to deposit new mail, thus causing the UNK table to grow very quickly. To solve the problem, perform the steps below:
        1. Upgrade the server to Domino 4.5.2.
        2. Add the following NOTES.INI variable: MailboxAllowManyItems=1

NOTE: The NOTES.INI variable cited above is unstable in Domino 4.5 and should not be used; it should only be used once you have upgraded your server to Domino 4.5.2.

The Router will then set an option in the MAIL.BOX file so that the UNK table will not fill up.

        Supporting Information:

From 4.5.2 Fix List: "SPR# SMUN3GLNXJ - Implement a new notes.ini variable for servers, MailboxAllowManyItems, which will prevent the error, 'Cannot store document; database has too many unique field names. Please ask your administrator to compact the database' being reported by the Router when many workflow application documents are being routed."
