Tools for Admins

After using Lotus Notes 8 for a while, I have found some great tools for Domino Administrators to use. These tools will help make your job easier and you don't have to try to bribe your developers to build them!
The best part is these work on all platforms, so you can use Mac or Linux for your OS and still get some work done. For the Admin client you can always use VMware or Fusion.
If you are using Lotus Notes 8 or 8.5, then upgrade to 8.5.1. It has fixes for performance and a new Designer.
Databases:
Domino Configuration Tuner (dct) - Free with the Administration client. It will review your server settings and make recommendations to improve performance, security and reliablility. It's an Admins best tool!
Domino Domain Monitoring (ddm) - It's free and part of the server install. Make sure it's setup and running. It will inform you when there are issues with your server. An updated Redbook is in the works, in the mean time check out the Domino Wiki.
Sidebar and Widgets:
Before you can install any new plugins in Notes you will need to configure your Client and create a new update site.
- Locate the file {notes install dir}\framework\rcp\plugin_customization.ini and add the line com.ibm.notes.branding/enable.update.ui=true and restart the client.
To install from an update site:
- From the main menu select File -> Application -> Install.
- Select Search for new features to install
- Create a new Remote Update Site
Update Sites:
Domiclipse has some great tools:
URL for update site: http://www.domiclipse.com/domiclipse/update.nsf/site.xml
- Repton visualizes the replication topology of a Domino domain. It shows all the informaiton on the replication connections including which connections are working and which have issues.
- DocViewer lets you view the properties of the currently selected Notes Document.
Jeff Gilfelt's tools:
URL for update site: http://www.jeffgilfelt.com/eclipseplugins
- Formul8 - Run a macro formula against the selected documents. Great for updating a document without writing an agent.
- Secret Agent - See all agents in an application and run them either locally or Run on Server.
- SideLog - view the log file of any server.
Sidebar apps available from OpenNTF.org:
File Explorer - browse your local drives and drag & drop files to it with out having to launch a file browser.
INI Search Widget - Enter and search for the description of a Notes.ini entry. The results are from the Notesini database maintain here on Kalechi.
Discussion Add-ons - This will add a toolbar action to let you copy any notes document to a discussion database. It's use full for collecting information and sharing it with colleges.
LEI Monitor - If you run LEI on your server then you can now see if everything is running OK.
Quick Note - Lets you make quick notes and save them. Runs from the toolbar and saves to the OS
File Navigator - Browse drives and Eclipse folders.
From the great people at SNAPPS:
ReCon Send server commands from the side bar. You can restart a server, check it's status and more.

piyushk,
You mean when you click on the link, you don't go to openntf.org and the widget entry?
It works for me.

It lets you search the notesini database I host from the sidebar. I also have a mobile version of the site and will have an android app.
